May 6, 2008 - Connecticut Main Street Center (CMSC) has announced its 2008 Awards of Excellence. Recipients include Main Street organizations in Norwich, Simsbury, Waterbury and the Upper Albany Main Street district in Hartford, as well as organizations in Mansfield and Willimantic. October 23, 2007: Connecticut Main Street Center (CMSC) has announced recipients of the 2007 Preservation of Place grants.  Seven nonprofit Main Street organizations and municipalities have been recognized for their efforts in the preservation and revitalization of their “main street” districts and awarded technical assistance grants. January 22, 2007, WNPR: Where We Live (Hartford, CT) - Alan J. Plattus, Professor at the Yale School of Architecture and Director of the Yale Urban Design Workshop, and board member of Connecticut Main Street Center, and Douglas Rae, Professor at the Yale School of Management and former New Haven City Administrator  were John Dankosky's guests on WNPR-Connecticut Public Radio's live call-in program "Where We Live". December 20, 2006: Connecticut Main Street Center (Hartford, CT) has announced its 2007 Downtown Revitalization Institute quarterly workshop series which offers a full day each quarter with nationally known experts in capacity building and organizational development, business and real estate development, marketing and promotion, and urban design. July 27, 2006: Connecticut Main Street Center Welcomes New Board Members (Hartford, CT) Connecticut Main Street Center's Board of Directors welcomed two new members at its Annual Meeting last month in New London. May 19, 2006: Waterbury and Winsted Named 2006 National Main Street Communities (Hartford, CT) – Connecticut Main Street Center (CMSC) announced today that two local commercial districts have been named 2006 National Main Street Communities by the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center. Main Street Waterbury and Friends of Main Street (Winsted), both nonprofit corporations, have been recognized for outstanding accomplishments toward their goal of the revitalization of their respective historic commercial districts. 2006 National Main Street Communities will be recognized at the National Main Streets Conference in New Orleans from June 4th-7th and the Connecticut Main Street Center Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation on June 19th in downtown New London. May 4, 2006: The Hartford Courant to Receive Award from Connecticut Main Street Center (Hartford, CT) Connecticut Main Street Center has announced The Hartford Courant has been selected to receive the 2006 Connecticut Light and Power Company Award for Outstanding Contributions to Main Street Revitalization. April 20, 2006: CT Main Street Center to Feature Multi-Discipline Team in Urban Place-Making Workshop (Hartford, CT) Connecticut Main Street Center will present the next Downtown Revitalization Institute workshop, "Using Design as a Tool for Downtown Revitalization", on Friday, April 28th from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Northeast Utilities in Berlin, CT. Urban planner and landscape architect David Sousa will be joined by a team of design professionals including architect Robert Orr, landscape architect Scott Lewendon, transportation engineer Wesley Marshall, and planner and GIS specialist James Horton. April 13, 2006: Connecticut Main Street Center Photo Display at Legislative Office Building (Hartford, CT) A photography exhibit of Connecticut Main Street communities is on display at the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Hartford. Photos of downtown New London, Niantic, Winsted and the Upper Albany neighborhood commercial district in Hartford are exhibited in the Café Exit hallway on the ground floor of the LOB.
