2007 National Main Street Communities

The National Main Street Accreditation process evaluates established commercial district revitalization programs on the basis of ten basic performance standards, and provides national recognition to those that meet these standards.

Connecticut Main Street Center is proud to recognize Downtown Waterbury (Main Street Waterbury) and Downtown Winsted (Friends of Main Street) as 2007 National Main Street Communities.

The National Trust’s 2003 Preservation Awards illustrate the great diversity of our country and honor the dedication of citizens, organizations, and public and private entities who have worked to ensure that the best parts of our past are preserved for the future.  “There is no single individual in the state of Connecticut, and few across the country, who have made such enormous contributions to historic preservation as Jack Shannahan,” said Richard Moe, President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
